Whether you’re looking to catch savings on gifts or keep Community South updated on your travel plans, here are some holly jolly holiday finance tips!
‘Tis the season to be holly and jolly! Christmas is right around the corner, and holiday plans are getting ready to take off— everywhere we look, there’s seasonal cheer. But while you’re busy checking off each item on your list and making sure the garland is hanging straight, it’s easy to forget that your finances need to end the year strong, too.
So, whether you’re looking to catch savings on gifts or keep Community South updated on your travel plans, here are some holly jolly holiday finance tips!
You have a list, you check it twice— now, do the same for your finances!
Use your monthly budget to build a holiday budget for each person on your gift list. Next to each person’s name, write down gift ideas and the amount you’re likely to spend on them. Keep in mind, you’ll probably spend less on your workplace Secret Santa than on a family member or partner.
Get smart about shopping with your budget! Flag online sales for expensive gifts, and look out for in-store discounts and deals.
Not every gift has to be the newest gadget or gizmo. In fact, some of the best gifts aren’t material at all! If you’re looking to make memories with someone special, consider booking an experience for them. This is an excellent idea if you’re buying for a group of friends or the whole family— look out for deals on excursions and fun activities everyone will love.
Another idea is DIY gifts! Consider giving people “gift cards” they can use when they need help. Give mom an IOU she can cash in for dinner on you, or tell dad you’ve got the next car-washing day handled— lending your time and energy is a great way to say “I love you.”
Thinking about traveling away from home this holiday season? Let us know! Because nothing puts a damper on your holiday plans like your account getting flagged for fraud.
